A 10 metal-stringed pear shaped English guitar
This guitar belonged to Charles Wesley’s wife Sarah. It was made by a Moravian called Frederick Hintz.
By 1763 Hintz was advertising himself as guitar maker for George III’s wife, Queen Charlotte.
Sarah Gwynne (1726-1822) was the daughter of a wealthy Welsh magistrate. She and Charles fell in love almost at first sight and married in 1749. She was such a good singer that on one occasion she performed before King George III.
