Welcoming you back safely
The New Room is currently closed in accordance with government legislation.
We hope to reopen very soon, and our team have worked hard to ensure that we operate safely when we do, in line with the enhanced safety measures set out by the UK Government.
The health and safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff is our number one priority, so we have taken measures to ensure that your visit is Covid-19 secure. We now have hand sanitiser stations across the site, enhanced cleaning regimes, table service, one way systems and social distancing markers - we’ve endeavoured to do everything we can to make sure that you have a safe visit.
Please note that visitors are required by law to wear a face covering on our premises, unless seated in the cafe, and that all visitors must sign up to Test and Trace on arrival to the New Room or use the NHS Covid-19 Test and Trace app.
The New Room café is open for socially distanced table service, offering drinks, cakes and light lunches. The chapel and Broadmead courtyard are also open for private prayer and reflection, and we will be holding a reflective spoken-word only Emmaus service on Tuesdays at 1pm-1.30pm. The museum and shop are also open, although our library currently remains closed.
In order to manage social distancing around the museum we are encouraging visitors to reserve a timed entry slot which can be paid for at our welcome desk on arrival. Visitors can arrive on the day without a booking, but priority will be given to those who have reserved a time slot.
Our Horsefair Room is available to hire for training and education purposes, with social distancing measures in place limiting meeting capacity to 12 people. For booking enquiries, email firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note our toilets are restricted to patrons only. Other public toilets can be found in The Galleries and Cabot Circus.
We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
Before your visit:
- Bring a face covering - our staff and volunteers will be wearing face coverings, and we ask all visitors to do the same.
- Showing symptoms? We politely request that you do not visit us if you are showing symptoms of Covid-19.
- We have contactless pay points at all the tills, and encourage you to pay by card.
- Keep checking here to find out the latest information as we re-open more of our facilities.
Test and Trace
In order to help reduce the risk of a local outbreak of coronavirus, we will be taking contact details for everyone visiting the New Room or asking you to use the NHS Test and Trace app.
In line with guidance issued by the Department for Health and Social Care, we will keep your details for 21 days, held securely in accordance with GDPR. We will share them with Test and Trace personnel, if asked, in the event of a fellow visitor or team member testing positive for coronavirus.
The New Room has been awarded the We’re Good To Go Industry Standard by Visit England.
