Drop-in anytime to chat to our volunteer team and find out how you can get involved.  Join a FREE museum tour, meet our archive team, and even have a go at singing with our Community Choir…

Volunteering is an opportunity to meet new people, discover local history, improve your wellbeing, learn new skills and become part of a welcoming and supportive community.

We have many roles available: cafe, shop, welcomers, museum guides, library, collection and archive, education, events, family activities, admin and more… If you’re interested in getting involved, then we might be the place for you.  Meet our team to find out more and sign up for your own taster session.

Wednesday 1 November, 10am-4pm – pop in any time.

11am: FREE museum tour – meet our Welcomer team.

11am-1pm: Explore our Library – meet our Collections and Archive team.

12pm-1pm: Join our Community Choir rehearsal – sing or just listen, all are welcome.

2pm: FREE museum tour – meet our Education team.

John Wesley's New Room

John Wesley’s New Room is a heritage site in the heart of Bristol. It houses a museum, library, café, events and hire space. It is home to the original 18th century chapel that started the Methodist movement.

It also houses an award-winning Café and a vast reference Library. John Wesley’s New Room hosts a range of art, music and family events and is also available to hire.

John Wesley’s New Room is the oldest Methodist building in the world, located right in the heart of Bristol city centre. Founded in 1739 by John Wesley, the New Room became the cradle of the worldwide Methodist movement.

This is the place that completes the story of Bristol. This is the Room that changed the World.

It is a place where everyone is welcome to explore, step back, take time, reconnect and recharge.
