From Syria to Sanctuary: A Young Man’s Journey

Join us for ‘From Syria To Sanctuary’ – A Young Man’s Journey

Abdulazez Dukhan’s illustrated talk recounts his tale, through a refugee’s eyes. As a 14 year old child, he fled violence and devastation in his homeland, Homs. By travelling 1000s of miles & crossing continents, he finally reached Belgium. Now just 20, Abdulazez will embark on a UK led tour to give an illustrated talk, to share with us his experience of having to seek sanctuary and safety, alongside many others in a similarly difficult situation.

Safe Passage will be joining the event to speak about the legacy of the Kindertransport, and their recent campaign 80 Years On, #ourturn.

There will also be an opportunity to hear from Bristol City Council and their commitment to supporting refugee children, i.e. the Dubs Amendment.

As part of the event, there will also be a pop-up exhibition, which will display Abdulazez artwork. This work will aim to provide an insight into the human experiences of refugees as they search for a more hopeful future. https://azyeux.com/index.html
