Around the World Activity Day

This Summer Holiday, take a break from the busy streets of Bristol and take your kids on a fun journey around the world at John Wesley’s New Room!

Tuesdays (11am- 3pm) – August 2, 9, 16 and 23
Suitable for ages 5-11.
Just turn up, no need to book in advance.
Entrance with a family ticket. If already have a family ticket, £3 for materials.

Around the World Activities:

— George’s Suitcase August 2 & 9
Have a look at George Whitefield’s suitcase and find out what he took on his travels to America.
What would you take in your case? Make your own suitcase and design small items out of plasticine or paper to put in it.

— Flag Making August 2 & 9
Did you know that flags became particularly popular at the end of 18th century?
Have a look in our activity room and discover the different flags from around the world!
What would yours look like? Design your own flag to take home!

— Message in a Bottle August 16 & 23
When John and Charles Wesley crossed the Atlantic Ocean their ship got into a storm.
Write a message with pen and ink to put in the bottle and give to someone. What would John Wesley write?

— Postcard from the New Room August 16 & 23
John Wesley sent a lot of letters when he lived at the New Room!
Make a collage postcard with cut-out images and send it to your friends.

John Wesley's New Room

John Wesley’s New Room is a heritage site in the heart of Bristol. It houses a museum, library, café, events and hire space. It is home to the original 18th century chapel that started the Methodist movement.

It also houses an award-winning Café and a vast reference Library. John Wesley’s New Room hosts a range of art, music and family events and is also available to hire.
