How to support and donate to The New Room

This historic building relies on the support of visitors to remain open as a place of prayer and worship, to be kept in good repair and to operate as a centre where people can learn about John and Charles Wesley and the origins of Methodism.  Any money or time that people donate makes a huge difference.

Become a Friend of the New Room

Friends of the New Room support the work of the New Room by making regular donations, preferably by Standing Order and Gift Aided. The annual subscription is £35.00 per person or £500.00 for life membership. Money raised in this way also supports the work at Charles Wesley’s House in Bristol, the other important heritage site in our care.

As well as enjoying the satisfaction of knowing that you are contributing towards the ongoing care of these unique buildings and the mission work that takes place here, as a Friend you will receive the monthly New Room e-newsletter (optional) and receive invitations to various events.

Please return the signed form, your details and payment for the attention of the Secretary of Friends at the New Room to friends@newroombristol.org.uk or by post to The New Room/John Wesley’s Chapel, 36 The Horsefair, Bristol, BS1 3JE.  Any cheques sent to us should be made out to ‘John Wesley’s Chapel’ and not to the New Room, due to bank account identification requirements.

Leave a legacy

Many people cannot afford to make significant gifts to a cause close to their heart during their lifetime, even if they would like to do so.  A bequest in your will can be an ideal way to help.  Leaving a legacy isn’t complicated, and you don’t have to make a new will if you already have one.  It is a wonderful way to carry on supporting causes that matter to you long after your lifetime, and it will also ensure that your kindness is remembered.

Volunteer

Volunteers are needed on a daily basis to welcome visitors to the New Room and help with any questions they may have. You can decide how often you choose to volunteer and, whilst some knowledge of the Wesleys is helpful, you don’t need to be an expert! The most important attributes are enthusiasm, a friendly nature and a willingness to learn and meet new and fascinating people from all over the world!

Donate by Paypal

One off donations to the New Room can be made online via PayPal using the button below.

This historic Grade 1 listed 18th century building relies on the support of visitors to remain open as a place of prayer and worship in Bristol city centre. As the ‘cradle of Methodism’, it must be kept in a good state of repair in order to operate as a place where people can continue to come and learn about the life and ministry of John and Charles Wesley and the establishment of the Methodist movement.  Any money donated is used to maintain the building and support our mission.

Thank you.
