Statement on coronavirus from the New Room/John Wesley’s Chapel, Bristol
Following the government’s decision to place Bristol into Tier 3 (Very High alert) once the current national lockdown ends on 2nd December, it has been decided to keep the New Room/John Wesley’s Chapel closed presently. This includes the chapel, museum, café, library & archive, and Horsefair Room plus all of our planned events and community activities such as our weekly Emmaus service.
This closure decision will be revisited following the government’s review of the tier level for areas in mid-December and, once it is appropriate to do so, we will re-open the site as soon as practically possible ensuring social distancing measures are in place. Please check our website and social media channels for the latest updates and we look forward to welcoming people to the site again soon.
Like many other charities, museums and cultural venues across the UK, the New Room is now in a financially challenged position. As we face uncertain times ahead, we need your support more than ever. If you are able to, please consider donating towards the work of the New Room through PayPal here.
We continue to pray for all those who have been affected by this situation and thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.
