Statement on the coronavirus outbreak from the New Room/John Wesley’s Chapel, Bristol

Due to the ongoing coronavirus situation, and the updated advice which has been issued by the government, NHS and the Methodist Church, the trustees and staff of the New Room/John Wesley’s Chapel have taken the decision to close the whole site effective from Wednesday 18th March. This extends to include the chapel, museum, cafe, library & archive and Horsefair Room plus all of our planned events and community activities.  All of our public events are cancelled until 31 May – some will be rescheduled.  Please check website for details of specific events.

Once the current advice changes, we will reopen the site again as soon as it is practical to do so. Please check our website and social media channels for the latest updates and we look forward to welcoming people to site again soon.

If you have booked tickets with us for forthcoming events we will be getting in touch with you directly to let you know how to get a full refund or to book onto the rescheduled event if it is being postponed.

Like many other charities, museums and cultural venues across the UK, the New Room is now in a vulnerable position.  If you are able to, please consider donating the proceeds of your tickets to funding the continued running of the New Room instead of asking for a refund.  With uncertain times ahead, we need your support more than ever.  Please contact us if you have any queries around events by emailing info@newroombristol.org.uk

We continue to pray for all those who have been affected by this situation and thank you for your patience at this time.
