Statement on the coronavirus outbreak from the New Room/John Wesley’s Chapel, Bristol
Due to the ongoing coronavirus situation, and the updated advice issued by the government, NHS and the Methodist Church, the trustees and staff of the New Room/John Wesley’s Chapel took the decision to close the whole site effective from Wednesday 18th March. This includes the chapel, museum, cafe, library & archive and Horsefair Room plus all of our planned events and community activities. All of our public events are also cancelled until 31st May, although some will be rescheduled so please check our website for more details.
Once the current advice changes, we will reopen the site again as soon as it is practical to do so. Please check our website and social media channels for the latest updates and we look forward to welcoming people to the site again soon.
Like many other charities, museums and cultural venues across the UK, the New Room is now in a financially challenged position. As we face uncertain times ahead, we need your support more than ever. If you are able to, please consider donating towards the work of the New Room though our PayPal account at https://www.newroombristol.org.uk/donate/
We continue to pray for all those who have been affected by this situation and thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.
