Appeal Launch Party for the ‘Greening of the Broadmead Courtyard’ at the New Room
The trustees of John Wesley’s Chapel welcomed friends, stewards and guests to the New Room on Wednesday 10th September to launch an appeal for funds for the greening of the Broadmead Courtyard.
A welcome and introduction was given by Rev. David Weeks, the Warden of the New Room, before a series of speakers including Lord Griffiths of Burry Port, Mr John Hirst, Broadmead Manager and Mr Les Baker of Reckless Orchard spoke to the audience. Guests also enjoyed music provided by the Parkway Gospel Choir.

The purpose of the appeal is to raise the £200,000 needed to create a garden in the heart of Broadmead. The trustees are appealing to individuals, companies and grant-making trusts for support to green the Broadmead courtyard of the New Room. Reckless Orchard, a local award-winning landscape architect team with a track-record of regenerating urban spaces, have created a design which draws on elements from 18th century formal gardens to create an urban oasis. The garden will contribute towards improving the amenities in Broadmead whilst also enhancing the environment and developing one of Bristol’s most important heritage sites.

The trustees appeal to you to share in this vision and ‘help us make this garden grow.’
Full details as to how you can contribute are available on our funding appeal leaflet which is downloadable from this website.
