Give our community choir a try at our Christmas Sing-along!
From 12.15 to 1pm, join choir leaders Rose and Judit to sing some Christmas classics. From pop favourites to traditional carols, raise your voice to the rooftops in the beautiful acoustics of the chapel and join in the festive fun.
Step away from the busy shops, take a break from your computer screen, bring colleagues and friends or make some new ones. You don’t need to be able to read music or have any singing experience – all are welcome!
The New Room Community Choir meet weekly during term-times on a Wednesday lunchtime – it is free and you are welcome to join at any time. With a varied repertoire of pop, folk, rock, jazz, blues and gospel, and open to requests for your favourite tunes, the New Room Community Choir hopes to bring people together through singing.
Rose is a professional jazz singer and is currently part of ‘Les Voice Messengers’ singing jazz and contemporary music. She has experience leading choirs and setting up vocal groups.
Judit is a pianist and music teacher. She has experience singing in choirs as well as accompanying, and conducting ocasionally. She has been involved in coordinating and assisting children musical projects.
Rose and Judit are both registered music therapists and are aware of the many benefits of singing in a choir – singing as part of a group is an opportunity to connect and share a meaningful and fun experience that can improve mood and inspire confidence and motivation.
‘Our idea for the New Room Choir is to create a relaxed space to enjoy singing together and have fun learning new songs.’
Rehearsals start on Wednesday 10th January 12.15-1pm. No auditions, no fees, no need to read music – all welcome, join anytime!
